“I love the French language and I love foreigners. Before becoming a French teacher at France Langue in 1981, I worked in a translation bureau in Geneva. I also taught in a grade school. My degrees are in English and Spanish and I also have a Masters in Art Market communication.

France Langue’s program will help you to improve your French learning language skills. Prepare you to take many official exams and uses the Common European Framework for language learning. In my French classes, depending on your needs, I add film excerpts and songs to the program.

I feel the best way to learn French is by making learning a pleasure. Listen to the radio. Sign-up for a dance class. Go to a café, Read newspapers and magazines that interest you. Above all don’t spend your time speaking your native language with other foreigners. Take advantage of every opportunity that comes up to improve your French.”

“I have a Master’s in Linguistics and a Master’s and Doctorate in Philosophy. Before starting my career at France Langue in 1981, I taught at the University of Montpellier. At France Langue, I give French civilization lectures, French classes and guided tours all adapted to your French level. No matter what language skills you have when you start out, you will get a grasp of how the French language works and gain knowledge of French civilization in my classes. Our main goal at France Langue is for you to apply what you learn.

Keep in mind that you need to put an accent on the differences between your native language and the French language:

  • Pronunciation of certain sounds might not be the same as in your native language.. ou as in vous and u as in tu are not pronounced in the same way. It’s important to stress the difference of the sounds to be able to hear them and to pronounce them correctly.
  • When you’re learning new vocabulary, learn by word groups. Things might not be separated in the same way as in your native language. A chaise is not the same thing as a fauteuil or a canapé.
  • Use gestures to make yourself understood. For example, when saying J’aime bien ce sac (I like this purse) point at it.

Learning French is a long process that takes a lot of determination. However, it will give you the chance to learn a new way of looking at things.”

“I’ve got a Master’s in Modern literature and a teaching degree from the University of Paris VII. Before I became a French teacher at France Langue in 1981, I worked in the media and publicity sector. What keeps me motivated in teaching is that it’s so stimulating to participate in helping adult students from all over the world learn French.

Le Monde, L’Express, and Le courier International. are all a part of my teaching methods. Students in French classes at France Langue work in pairs and small groups, give presentations, work on fill in the blank exercises, watch and comment on film excerpts, learn songs and make friends with students from different nationalities all while learning how to speak listen read and write in French.

Take it from me, learning French is in no way a passive exercise. To improve your language skills you need to take advantage of every opportunity that comes up to speak French. Read everything you can get your hands on in French and participate in France Langue’s student activities as much as you can. And please don’t be afraid of making mistakes. It’s all part of the leaning experience.”

Nicole Cammilleri, professeur de Français à France Langue Nice

"I’ve been a teacher at France Langue Nice since 1995. Before that, I worked for the Franco-German Youth Office. I have a Masters in Linguistics with a major in French as a foreign language. I chose to teach French because I like being in contact with foreigners and being able to transmit my native language and culture.

For me, the best way to learn French is to take French immersion classes in France. In my French courses at France Langue Nice, I privilege communication. I let the students express themselves as much as possible in French. The best way to learn French is by practicing. I use group dynamics with role play and acting techniques."

Sylvie Sinnonio - France Langue Nice

Sylvie Sinnonio, French teacher in France Langue Nice

"I have a Masters in applied languages and I have been teaching French at France Langue Nice since 1997. I chose to teach French as a foreign language because it’s a real pleasure for me to share my language and culture with foreigners. Nice is a city that’s rich in culture and the climate is extraordinary. Within one hours distance, you have the beach where you can swim and the mountains where you can ski.

I feel it’s important to take officially recognized exams such as the DELF and the DALF which have 6 independent diplomas corresponding to 6 different levels of the Common European Framework. These diplomas are issued by the French Ministry of National Education to certify your reading, writing listening and speaking skills level in French. These diplomas are recognized the world over."
